Woodrolfe Creek, Tollesbury

@Oldbones Thought you might like to see this. Kodak 400TX 35mm commercially scanned and developed by an inexpensive photo lab: Photo Hippo in Burnley. I have cropped about 10% but I think the grain an tonal range is acceptable. Your thoughts?

I could have sworn that I had responded to this. Another senior moment! I like this. Comp is right. The tonality is right. Recession into the distance and an old wooden boat. What's not to like.

I like this, and its very clear and smooth, I lot more than my photographs.
Do you shoot at box speed or do you over expose.
I have read about it, and am so tempted to do at least one film to see if I can get better results.
Simply asking because the whites are very white in your shot, the ropes hanging on the boat railing look very white.
But, can I ask was it a cloudless day as the sky, and its the same for me look like its cloudless.

Thank you.

I shoot at box speed and use an incident light reading with a hand-held light meter (Sekonix L-398A). I am careful to adjust the levels in post so the whites are white but do not clip. I would have used a yellow filter. Both items were second hand when I bought them. I am also careful to adjust the levels in post so the whites are white but do not clip.

I would also have "contrast graded" and sharpened the foreground, something I learned from Martin H. Not sure how easy it is in Nikon Studio but it is relatively straightforward in Affinity Photo. Affinity is much like the old photoshop and, if you are on a budget, is free to download and to use. It takes a bit of getting used to though.

5.00 p.m. on a beautiful June day with just a few clouds.

I do think NX studio can do thi as like this, but it has to come from a compatable dslr camera, I dont think it will do analogue work, you only get the basics.
