The Singing tree

Just over the border of my home in West Yorkshire into Lancashire is this amazing structure high above the town of Burnley known as "The Singing Tree" It is a wind powered (?) sculpture that resembles the shape of a tree and literally sings and hums in the wind
The designer are architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu
The moor land is cold and desolate which adds to the foreboding and quite menacing appearance. Ninety minutes up on the hillside was about as much as i wanted to spend there, such was the ferocity of the biting wind

Absolutely superb rendering, the tones are fantastic, looks like MF film.
Thank You Toby. I cant claim too much credit for the rendering, it's the Nikon D850 sensor and processor. It makes PP that much easier..oh and Ian's grain plug in.

Before I enlarged the thumbnail it looked almost like the 'Flying Lady' that adorns the top of the radiator on a Rolls Royce. The quality is superb but not one I would have taken myself - perhaps I should look for things like this.

I agree that it looks like the flying lady, ive also added it to my list of places to go when I'm next in that area

Wow, astonishing. It looks gigantic!
Jose, Partly our job as photographers is to bend reality. As you can see the structure is not too large, as the people add some scale. By getting down low and shooting upwards i was able to create the illusion of a much larger structure...thanks for looking and commenting

Wow, that amazing what you did, the illusion of it. If I may ask, what focal lengh of lens did you use?

I use mainly a 24-120 zoom, in this case the zoom set to about 35mm

Yes, great shot and composition

And the actual sculpture is and sounds:)! more interesting than, eg, the angel of the north.
