The Labourer

On a recent visit to Durham, we spent the day in the Beamish Open Museum. It was a full days worth of not just interest but endless photo opportunities. I'd love to go again. This gent was playing the part of a labourer on the recreation of an early 20th (?) Century farm.

Classic B&W portraiture. I rarely see the point of colour portraits, mono seems to say so much more. Great detail too, and lovely textures in the jacket.

I assume you darkened the background, I just wonder slightly if it isn't a little too dark?

Thanks Toby. Yes to your Q but only in as much as the BG is all greenery and I have selectively darkened it during the conversion to stop it tonally merging with his jacket .
