I guess if it was not rendered darker then it would be just another Church image, fir me the darkness or dark tones add a certain ambiance to it making a more interesting image, I like it

Thanks for the comments. It was actually taken minutes before sunset a couple of weeks ago, but the light was very strong and directional coming across the lakes at Stourhead, it seemed to almost set the lovely honey-coloured stones of the church on fire, throwing everything else into deep shadow.
