Spot Meter

When I use my old Zeiss lenses and MF Film camera I use my Pentax Spotmeter. Hitherto I have simply read off the Aperture/Shutter Speeds and transferred them to the lens.
I decided that I would slightly simplify by entering the Ev number into the lens. However I have discovered that if I do this there is a two stop disccrepency between the meter and lens. I haven't developed the exposed film to see what "damage" has been done!
Am I missing something obvious? I have checked the Spotmeter against another and they coordinate in their reading.
I suspect I have a red face coming.

The third variable is film speed. Guessing you are using a mechanically coupled lens and the ISO/ASA number set on the camera does not match the one set on the meter.

I envy you your spot meter by the way. They have become expensive.

Thanks for your response Martin. As to the meter, I was horrified at the asking price when I had a look.. I have had mine for a good few years.
The camera is a Hasselblad 503 so no setting of film speed is available. I thought that either the lens rings had slipped out of synchronisation or that of the meter but it doesn't seem so.

Too long since I used EV. Of course the ISO value is only on the meter. D'oh. Sorry. My Rollei is the same.

It seems to me unlikely the dials have lost sync.

The only other thing I can think of (based on my Weston Master V) is that you may have substituted the light value (read off the meter) for the exposure value (f-stop and shutter speed combination) but I am not sure this is the same as the Pentax.

Thanks Glenn. I have read from the original Instruction - on line - how they advise taking readings and they simply suggest that the options offered by the Ap/Shutter speed be used (which I have always done). It seems that you are right in that I have, wrongly, used the EV index on the meter and transferred it to the index on the camera.
Nothing more humbling than exhibiting your ignorance on line!
