Shapes and textures at Porth Nanven

A brief visit at low tide in flat light and strong winds, so I found best effect was had by pointing the camera straight down to find the multitude of possible abstracts. These are from the foreshore. All with my Huawei P20 phonecam.

These bring back fond memories of past trips there, the channels cut in the sand by the stream are never the same. Our most recent stay was in a cottage just past the giant 'spikey rhubarb' plants on the road back up to St Just from Porth Nanven. Being able walk down to the shore in 10 mins was great.

Giant Gunnera. That cottage looks really pretty, what a wonderful location. I like the new barn conversion just up the hill too, with the glass end wall. Poor old St. Just seems to be heaving itself into a destination, of sorts.

I've got a perfect signed copy of 'The End of the Land' by Andrew Nadolski. I think it might have been you that pointed me towards it some years back. I tend to feel that there's not a lot that you can add to his wonderful photographic essay, and it has made the beach a bit of a photographer's honeypot, but of course, there are always other personal visions and manifestations, different moods, and the ever-shifting sands and rocks.

We did pass that barn conversion when it was for sale, we dreamed for but a moment ....
St Just does host the Kurt Jackson gallery the size of which was a surprise but impressive, also enjoyed really good breakfast at the Dog & Rabbit cafe, which is hidden away a little.

I like these toby. It is remarkable what one can find if you really scrutinise the scene in front of you and those phones, they are getting too good. I wonder if there will be a time when no one uses proper cameras. I don't know. I can say though, it won't happen till after I'm gone.

I think there's a whole generation who believe a camera is something that comes with a phone. My grown up children still don't understand why you need a 'proper' camera. "what's the point ?". You need to buy the film, load it in, get it developed and scanned and then you can upload it onto insta like two weeks later - there's a filter that make your photo's look old on your phone.... Maybe when they are sorting through my stuff in the future they'll be inquisitive enough to give it a go. Meanwhile they need to focus on getting a 'proper' job.

Some nice quality in the images Toby and they needed to be "seen" to be captured. I could see these hung large in a commercial setting and being quite effective.
