Printing a 100 Year Old Negative taken by Oskar Barnack, inventor of the Leica camera

Probably not, at least in a format we recognise, or made with throw away technology we cannot even visualise today. With the 'photographer' not being classed as such, but an 'electronics image visualiser' who merely thinks of an image then is assisted to press a button for it to appear, and does not leave his/her armchair. together with the ability to walk about carrying equipment has diminished because of lack of exercise.

(A cynic, - me, - yes, as always!)

Glad you liked it Martin.

I try to be positive about these things. I am on a course with the artist Tom Lovelace at the Photographers Gallery at the moment, and most of the attendees are young photographers starting out on their professional careers. Seeing their enthusiasm for the medium makes me hopeful for the future of our craft. Way to feel old .

That was a most enjoyable little video Glenn thanks for sharing and it proves that analogue photography is still magic, even if the guy did have all the best high tech stuff going to help him.

I wonder if digital files will be around at the age of that negative , amazing
I don't know. Will our current technology work on the tech of even 20 years time. The desire for analog will still be there I guess, but in the days of profit and loss will anyone be making film to use. Using digital and not having negatives is one reason I print my best photos at A2. At least then, in the unlikely event that all my photos don't end up in a skip when I'm gone and the even more unlikely event that someone more enterprising than me thinks they are worth saving and perhaps marketable, then they will be available as a big positive equivalent to a negative to reproduce from, if you see what I mean.

I suspect though, that in reality they will all end up in a skip. Theres a cheery thought. Have a nice day all.

I shouldn't worry, just take photos and enjoy the hobby for yourself, if other people like them then that's a bonus! :)
