Phew!

We have 30º this afternoon with around 48% humidity. In theory temperatures could drop to between to 22º to 18º overnight but you have go to bed late and get up early to open up the house and re close it it before the sun breaks. We then survive in sunless rooms.

It got up to 37C yesterday in the NE of England and even 800 feet up on the Northern Pennines it was too warm for me out of doors, but inside the house with all the upstairs windows open, the window blinds closed and where I could closed all the curtains and with the back door slightly open the inside of the house remained no more than 21 which I can put up.

My darkroom which is upstairs at the back of the house on the other hand I could not use it because it was 38c

Much the same here. The rear of the house and the garden face south and the outside temp has been around 30c-35c but the real problem has been that as recommended, last autumn we added a substantial amount of extra lagging to the loft and it works! Just one room on the north side stays usable during the day.
