I took this with a Crown Graphic 4x5 with Kodak Tmax 100, developed in Kodak HC110 H dilution, the early morning light was wonderful, I could not get rid of the wall in the composition but I think even been OOF it shows the Dales as it is.

This was scanned on an Epson v700 with Silverfast 8 a software I would highly recommend if you want the best out of your negatives with a flat bed scanner.

Thanks guys I did have a go with vuescan however its cheap to buy and whatever I did I could not get a decent scan out if it

I'm clearly in a minority here; not in respect of your shot which is lovely, but in relation to SilverFast and Vuescan. I started scanning with SilverFast 6, scanned thousands of slides and negatives from my archive with it... and hated it with a vengeance! The least intuitive interface known to man. When the time approached that it would no longer work, I had a trial version of SF 8, and didn't like it much better, and the upgrade was very expensive. I then tried Vuescan, and got on much better with it. Paid one comparatively small fee for Vuescan Pro, and I've been using it ever since. I can get scans from my Plustek, the Epson V500, even my all-in-one printer, all for the same one time, all upgrade, licence fee. And Ed Hamrick replies to my emails the same day if I have a problem!

Strange how we differ, I found vue scan to be clunky, awkward to use especially batch scanning, silverfast 8 new version is way better than version 6 of which I made a joke of on the other forum, I am getting great scans of my 4x5 negs with silverfast, noiseless open shadows, controlled highlights.

At the end of the day you use which you think delivers, silverfast gives me the quality I am after on a flatbed, vue scan never did,

Ah yes, the one time I tried to use batch scanning on the V500 with Vuescan I failed!

Absolutely singing. I use the Epson too, recommended, I believe there is an 800 now.

Thanks Richard, yes there are newer ones now, I think two mains differences are better film holders and the scan light are now LED so no more warm up period other than that they are the same.
