If you ever have the coveted opportunity to visit Iceland, you will see myriads of sprawling farms across the countryside populated with these beautiful Icelandic horses.

This hardy breed of horse was developed in Iceland. In their native country, they thrive and are affected by few diseases. Icelandic law prevents horses from being imported into the country and exported animals are not allowed to return.

I had the enviable pleasure of spending several hours at one of these horse farms called "Icelandic Horse World" (Skeiðvellir). For a small fee, the owners allow you to mingle and interact with the horses in one of their outdoor enclosures. I was able to get up front and personal with most of them and took several hundred photos. These magnificent creatures are so docile and inquisitive. It was truly a magical experience and one of the highlights of my trip.

These horses must have an interesting history and I will do some reading. Have you an image which gives an idea of their size?

I just know that a club competition judge would mark this great image down because you can't see the eyes.:):(:eek:

It'll take me weeks to get through all of them, but I did like the horse's pose, Martin so I decided to submit this one first. What don't you like about this one?
