Dunstanburgh Castle

A totally different view of Dunstanburgh Castle which is a refreshing change. Well done. I have not been to the actual castle since my schooldays in the 1950's, but it was on my visiting list this year.

love the grasses but does the castle looks a tiny bit too dark?
It looks a pretty dull day and against the grasses it does look a bit dark, but the stone the castle is made from is actually quite dark anyway. None of your creamy sandstone here but an exceptionally hard volcanic stone found locally on an outcrop of the Whin Sill a seam of rock that extends perhaps 40 miles inland and a great deal of the rock was also used to construct the Roman Wall. The colour or shade is perhaps correct.

For more detailed information there is a good bit about it in Wikipaedia under the name Great whin sill
