Still interested in film noir (ish).

Apart from Albert, the only other model that I have that won't shout at me too much/mind the faffing about is me.

So it had to be ....

Yes .... I know that the gobo is supposed to be used to create shadows as opposed to being an actual prop in the image but all these shots are currently 'test' status so that doesn't bother me too much. I do have an old venetian blind in the garage that I can use. ("Don't throw it away it might come in useful one day" has actually come true :) ).

Technical:

  • Flash about 18" from the gobo
  • wireless trigger, from which I could adjust the flash settings
  • no diffuser as I wanted harsh lighting (ie part of the film noir look as I understand it)
  • home made gobo - need to paint it black as print on the cardboard showed and I had to clone it out. Black foam board would be better.
Using yourself as a model is awkward - you have to keep taking shots, checking and then adjust - but needs must:):(
