Best Free Lightroom Alternatives

Lightroom is a great program for professional photographers, but many can't justify its price. I have been looking for a very long time for information on what can replace Lightroom. I have purchased skylum in the hope it would be cheaper /better than Lightroom. However, they keep introducing additional features which you have to buy. At the end of the day it does not seem to be any more cost effective than Lightroom.

it certainly doesn't work as well for my purposes but YMMV
