Woodhead Pass & Derwent

When I woke up on Saturday, 14 February 2026, something felt a little strange. I looked out the window: the sun was shining, and for once, it wasn’t raining.

I rolled twelve frames of Fomapan 200 (35mm) onto a cassette, grabbed my Nikon FE, and set off with no plan at all.

Camera: Nikon FE
Lens: Nikon 35mm f/2
Film: FomaPan 200
Developer: Kodak XTOL

Nice. Like all three. The dead flat water in the last one makes it particularly attractive.

These are impressive. It isn't just your hallmark care and attention to detail that makes your photographs look so 'finished', but the fine grain, detail resolution and clarity makes them look more 120 than 35mm.

Thank you.

With FomaPan 200 on a small format such as 35mm, I seem to get more pleasing grain when I use XTOL or Kodak D23 developer especially compared to other developers I have used such as Kodak HC110

With out current weather, it pays to have a camera bag at the ready so you can react quickly to any improvement in the light. You got good results from a brief window of sunshine.
