The Port - Morlaix

This is an image of the area by the sea lock at the port of Morlaix made last Thursday, in a brief interlude between the seemingly endless spells of rain we have been having. The photo makes the port look rather deserted, but in fact, a view back in the other direction would show it to be stuffed full of boats as far as you can see._HLN0002_3_DxO.jpg

More nice quality Helen. I'm also taken by the contrast in size between the two boats. The smaller boat almost looks like a toy.

The smaller boat is known as a "fileyeur" (drifter in English). The larger one is known as a "caseyeur", which uses cage traps to catch larger shellfish like lobsters, crabs, etc.

I do like photographs like this. Having grown up on a fishing port, now sadly declined almost out of existence. I often take a trip to where I also worked (not involving fishing) and there is always something new to be photographed. I do also like the house set back and above the harbour.

That said, the quality is very very good and as far as I can see no people to clutter up the scene.

Thanks both. There may be no people JK, but there is that curse of all photographers,,,,,, the inevitable and omnipresent white van.

White van disguised as a front room of the building behind. I had actually not noticed it.
