Tethering a Digital Nikon Camera - NX Studio and NX Tether

I have today discovered freebee tethering software that works with Nikon digital cameras: NX studio and NX tether. NX studio is photo editing software which, although not at the level of Lightroom, looks reasonably sophisticated. It can be coupled NX tether to be able to adjust basic camera settings and to fire the shutter remotely. I downloaded both applications and they are pretty intuitive (once you realise you need a tethering cable) and I was quickly able to take photos and download them to the computer simply by clicking on the shutter release icon on my laptop.

Thanks for the suggestion Jon. It looks good. I like that it has a live view which, as far as I can tell, the Nikon version doesn't. On the other hand, I can use the Nikon version for cataloguing which is something I do regularly.

I have a Nikon D850 and uses Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.

As you can see, it relays the Live View to the screen and allows full control from various dialogs.

It can download directly to a folder of your choice on the computer and/or the card in the camera.

Then you can use whatever software you want for editing. I use DxO PhotoLab and simply point it at the capture folder, so I can see the new images in PhotoLab as they are taken.
