Strange Times

Beautifully captured, Helen. Anyway no good omen for nature. Never seen sth like that before. I guess the tree puts out a second blossom because of the heat. Hopefully it stays healthy- the upcoming fruit may freeze in winter, if the blossoms are visited by bees at all. I have to water the smaller trees in my garden daily to safe them from dryness!
 
Nicely illustrated Helen. It's been a strange summer all round. The worry I have in our garden is the absence of insect life. Some white tailed Bumble bees but little sign of the hoverflies and butterflies of years gone by.

I know what you mean. Although I live in rural France there aren't the number of insects that you would expect, though vastly more than I used to see in my garden in Southport. For instance, in previous years we would start hearing the Ground Crickets in May and they would continue through until now. The sound was was really quite noisey, this year for the first time in six years we haven't heard any at all. The same with the Glow Worms. last year the garden was full of them just after Mid Summer this year nothing. I am hoping it is just part of their life cycle causing a lean year, but I do wonder whether it is climate change. Even the Swallows seem few and far between this year.
