What you see below is part of the remnants of an abandoned barge canal just outside the town I live in Newmarket, Canada.
The construction began circa 1902 and upon its completion, the project was cancelled (1912). Talk about a complete waste of tax payer's money.
Today, some of the original concrete structure can still be seen at the Rogers Reservoir Conservation area. Shot with my 830nm converted digital camera.

I keep coming back to this one :)

Looking at it as an image (as opposed to an 'infra-red' image) the contrast between the dark bank and the light vegetation really leads the (my) eye.

Again, looking at it as an 'image' rather than that special breed called 'infrared' .....

.... I began to wonder what I would do with it if it were mine.

I thought that I might add a vignette, at the LHS, and particularly at the bottom. To me a vignette at the bottom would help to give a sense of 3D. At the moment the 'grass' near the viewer is the same (I think) brightness as that further away. So I had a go (hope that is OK):

To me, this is a stronger image. And I begin to think that maybe one reason that I don't generally find IR images appealing is that they don't have a sense of depth/3D if all the vegetation is bright.
