Sheep In Mist

I love this. Sheep make such good subjects. What lens, Pete? Very clean and well balanced.

I've fallen in love with a Nikon FE2 that I bought at auction a while back, marvellous 'form factor' and delicious, crisp action. I prefer it to my host of F3s.

That's interesting. I've always fancied an F3. I didn't note the lens in the post because I wasn't sure, but it's almost certainly the 50mm f1.4 Ai. The FM series (and I think this includes the FE/FE2) have always been my favourite SLRs. As you say, the form factor is just perfect, the shutter dials have good reassuringly solid clicks, the vertical metal shutter curtains won't burn through, the viewfinder is bright, and they feel very solid but lightweight. They just got it right in their design. I have the FM, FM2n and an FM3a. The latter two are just fondled lovingly in the house and the FM is my user. The FM is, I think better made than the latter two, and is a bargain still, typically £70 to £80.
