Have been to the beach this morning at Locquémeau. The light was really nice and I was struck by the shapes these rocks made. The rocks are mostly volcanic in origin and I was struck by the resemblance, in my mind at any rate, to water. I rather thought that this is what water might look like if it had become somehow fossilised. The second image reminds me of three fossilised Dolphins swimming in a fossilised sea. On the other hand that coffee I had at breakfast was pretty strong so perhaps my imagination has got away from me.

Hardly a real scale of size here, could almost be Death Valley from a plane!

Well seen, Helen. I wonder if I would have seen the opportunity that you seized. Reminds me of an assignment I had a number of years ago.....Intimate Landscapes. A quick google search brought up this article that you might like.

Thanks Helen, liked the article. This is a case of finding these images over a longish period of time. I don't mean they were made over a long time, they were made on the same day within a few minutes of each other. Where they were taken is somewhere I go frequently for walks and over the years I have looked at these forms and shapes certain there are images worth spending electrons on. I have made quite a number of photos of these rocks at various times, but apart from a couple, they have never really worked. On this day the lighting was perfect, the Sun was just in the right position and everything came together.

Again: no scale of size, it could as well be taken by a drone, but because of the water plants I guess it's rather a puddle than a pond...

Does it matter there is no sense of scale?
Does it matter if it were taken by drone?
Its an image showing tone/texture/colour(original)/rocks/Iona...
From a personal perspective its also a memory of a point in time.

Paul, guess you got me wrong, my comment was not meant critical in a negative way! I like the image very much. Helen had another one before without a sence of scale, and I love yours and hers. I like the abstraction and the freedom of choice in interpretation. I wish these were mine!!
 
And my comment was not meant to be critical - the trouble with just using words with no expression. I was just saying it's what it is - nothing more or less!

Yes, dolphins for me too:)

(for my taste…) ?? crop a bit off the bottom to help focus attention?
