Resizing files for web in PS CC

During my reluctant journey into PS CC I've found that Alex Nail's software is no longer supported, and the legacy resize 'algorithms' don't work. I've used it for years, and know of no other way of quickly reducing and converting my working TIFFS to 8 bit jpegs.

What actions are CC users here using?
 
To resize:
Go to image/Image size in the drop down menus. There, you can set what ever units you want to use. I keep mine set to Pixels. The aspect ratio is locked but you can unlock it if the need ever arises. You can also set your resolution and then there are also several Resample options at the bottom. I use "Bicubic Sharper (Reduction)" because I am invariably downsizing from the original RAW saved as a large TIFF.

To convert to JPG/jpg:
Go to file/Save as a Copy and select the jpg option (selecting just "Save As" only gives you the PS native formats). That gives you the jpg without modifying or loosing the original TIFF.

Incidentally, if you go to Image/Mode you can convert your 8 bit jpg to a 16 bit image which gives you more control over tonal gradation.

I use Alex Nail v 5 without probs but I have some vague recollection of having had to tweak a bit of it when I first got CC

Do you get a message saying why the action won’t go?

I always process as a 16bit TIFF, then downsize using the Alex Nail plugin to the 'instagram' option (1080px longest), adjust the sharpening layers to taste, flatten and save under a new name, which is basically the filename addended with the longest side px dimension (aka _1080). In CS6 I then 'Save for Web', though I see that is available only as a so-called 'legacy' action in CC, so I assume has been rendered unneccessary. The Nail process converts the 16bit TIFF to an 8 bit jpeg automatically. It is/was a useful shortcut.

What resolution would you suggest setting for my 1080px longest?

Interesting. Nail hasn't produced an update since 2017, and has removed all the downloadable files from his website. I've got v5, but when I unpacked it earlier it prevented CC from opening until I had rebooted my PC. However, having done so, it still wasn't available in PS CC. Its a useful timesaver, and I'd love to find a way to get it back.
 
Toby mine is set to 300pixels/inch but I can't say that it was a conscious choice.

You say it’s not available-Did you ‘ Load’ the action?
 
The actions panel is present on CC (ticked in 'View'), but the Nail actions aren't in there. Is that what you mean by 'Load'?

I can't find where the Alex Nail actions reside in the file structure of my CS6 at home, I was hoping to try to work it out from that. His instructions, which I originally used, went with the links.

Right, I've got Alex Nail's actions loaded and working now (albeit the wrong version, but I've got v5 somewhere).

Now to try to get Nik working properly.
