It looks ok on my screen, but I can't look at it too long as it makes my eyes go funny. Maybe uploading the image has caused it. Is it better if I upload direct from my computer or use a hosting site?

Same here. I don't see the halo. Using a calibrated 27″ "Retina" screen.
 
Good BW IR but very busy composition. I've found that the biggest challenge with BW IR is trying not to overdo it and keep the composition simple. Through the lens, everything usually looks great, but once you start the post editing, you begin to realize there is no strong focal point and looks like a mishmash of highlights and shadows. At least that's my opinion.
 
I like 'simple' compositions (Tree) but I also like images that have a lot going on in them. This is one of my busy ones. :)
