Joshua Tree

I joined the form yesterday and spent time checking out the posts and photos. It has encouraged me to go out and shoot. I have recently begun doing more IR with my converted Canon Powershot G12 (590nm conversion). I had the conversion done over a year ago and never really did much with it until now. I think I had an idea that I was going to go out and shoot these fabulous IR photos right out of the gate w/o much work. After watching some of Rob Shea's youtube videos, I have learned a lot and realized this totally different from full-spectrum photography. Anyways, here's one of the recent photos I am happy with. Taken in the Mojave National Preserve in Southern California a couple of weeks ago.

Nice and simple, if you had not posted in the IR section I would not recognize this as an IR image, looking more carefully it has an otherworldly look with the deep dark sky, the composition does not sit comfortably with me I think off centre to the right or left might have worked better, however, that's subjective, otherwise I do like it.

Thanks, I think you're right; a little to the left would have brought that distant mountain into view and made it a little more pleasing. Sometimes I like to brake that rule (guideline) of thirds and center the subject. The needles on the tree went completely white in the IR, and that's what I like. I have this version of it in color, but after the "wow" went away, I didn't like it as much. Too much blue.
