Highlight Control In ColorPerfect

Having looked more closely at your RAW scan, and I haven't posted the full image simply because it contains people and you may not want it posting.

Using the Colorperfect Highlight Compression in this case does a remarkable job on this negative and virtually cures the white hole by 98% without any apparent loss in contrast.
  • The negative also appear to have fine grain - What film is it.
  • Can you remember what developer you used.
  • What scanner are you using.

Overall, this has to be one of the cleanest RAW scans I have seen in along time, virtually zero dust.
What do you mean by the ColorPerfect Highlight Compression?
The film is Kodak TriX - You weren't expecting that were you! :)
I think it will have been developed in D76 1:1
The scanner is the cheap as chips and much poo-pooed Plustek 8100. It cost about £200. I think it's a great little scanner.

Not at all, If I was to hazard a guess, I would have said Ilford Delta

Bringing in the negative to ColorPerfect, the highlight clipping was showing 0.57

By adding 1.25 compression, the clipping is now zero which on your negative cured those white patches

This is the same section converted in CP leaving the Highlight Stops Range OFF but sliding the blacks slider to stop highlight clipping

Yes, but I can put enough contrast back, and with some cropping it'll be a funny little memory.
