From a recent visit to New York City. This laundromat scene was just too “perfect”.

I had to revisit this image a few times before realising what an exceptional shot it is.

I love the "chequer board pattern" roof and floor, and the similar symmetry in the two walls, all working to keep us focussed on the characters within the frame. Congratulations on an outstanding photograph!

Thank you. I actually walked past this laundromat when I first looked in but did not want to just barge into the space. I am just glad I summoned the courage to turn back around and open the door. It was not easy to be the odd one in the small room. The scene presented itself when the patrons went about their day.

Nice shot, it reminds me when my mother sent me to the launderette in 60' and 70's.

Interesting slice of life which I quite like. Would have liked it more had you avoided the basket in the bottom corner and had included her feet.

I had this as an option too but thought the “messy” composition of the initial post made it less like a staged photo. Appreciate your comment.
