Another old image from around 2009. Not much snow but very very cold with hoar frost everywhere. I don't know where the resident of this web was but there was no sign of life. Nikon D300 and a tripod

Thank you both very much.

I wish it was like this today it isn't as cold as when the photograph was taken, but as I type there is between 8 and 10 inches of snow on top of my car. I am going to have problems even moving it off the driveway, 'cos the driveway uphill!

Actually I can only see the depth on the car, how deep it is elsewhere would be pure guestimation because I have not been outdoors! :p

It certainly is not going to be easy to shift so I am able to get out.

Below, was what it was before the snow stopped falling about 3 hours later. You can see against the house at the end how heavy it was.Snowfall 8 Jan 2021.jpg/

It took me two and half hours to dig it out to get it on the road so I could get to the chemists.

Not on your life. The Council here have 2 braincells per employee. they need two cells so that one doesn't get lonely. They clear the roads fine, but where do the dump the snow? - On the footpaths of course so walking to anywhere is fraught with danger because we have to use the roads.

About 3 years ago when the 'Beast from the East' was around a friend of mine who lives on a slightly better locality and who has a 25 yard long shared drive. He and his neighbour spent several hours clearing the path so they could get out to work. Only the find when they went to drive out of his path the council snowplough had blocked it again with a 6 foot high wedge of snow and ice when clearing the roads. The council employees in that district have a third braincell - the other is to supervise the first two.
