Richard, I'm guessing you was shooting wide open hence the operator is OOF ?
You could lighten up the mans face a little to help the lack of focus....
Was this a juke box type of music machine ?

Hi. I put him OOF on purpose, this was at 50mm f/2.4 with the focal plane where I wanted it. His face is darkened somewhat by soot from his traction engine and again is the level I wanted. Yes it is a showground type organ playing every instrument under the sun, and loudly!
