In the spirit of sharing here's one I took at Eyam recently as part of a project. I like my pictures quite dark, which I know is not to everyone's taste.

Not wishing to put you off, but there is dark and then dark. Unfortunately I find this comes into in the 2nd definition of dark. The main points that let this down (my opinion but mind you, I like the general picture) is the top of the church tower, and the foliage of the tree on the right above the footpath. Try lightening it a little on these points and re submit I am sure there would be a distinct improvement.

yeah I hear you on that, that was my last effort in post processing, I've attached the first which on reflection is more balanced.Church 1.jpg
 
That's better, you have lost nothing in the impact and made it easier to see the details.
