These old workings of a man made type of weir to provide power for a disused mill, when it rains heavy this waterfall comes alive as water pours over the man made wall that blocks the water flowing from the Ghyll stream. The archway in the second image is constructed for a disused road to the mill.

Martin, these both seem to be very pallid and flat on my screen, no dark tones, shadows or richness.

Perfectly normal on mine. That shows that some screens do not correspond with others. This picture reminds me very much of one of the disused and abandoned slate quarries in North Wales called Dorothea. Totally empty but a lot of old buildings and bridges still standing.
I do like these, especially the one through the arch.

Everything in that hollow is covered in a green moss, the arch bridge was a mid tone, the trees are mid tone, so I do agree with Mr Toby and Mr Jose they have an overall grey tone, not a lot I could do, but there record shots and not something I would put on my website.
I am going to do the same shots or similar this time with the holga or pinhole and see if that adds a better feel and tone, watch this space and thank for your valued comments

not a lot I could do
Martin, is it possible that by adjusting the "green" "yellow" sliders in either ACR, LR, or PS that something could be done? Or even the Hue sliders in the HSL panel, would that not make a difference? I say this only because it may be possible, not necessarily preferable.

Not really Jose as it shot on black and white film, to be honest they forum has killed them a little, the full size in PS look a lot better, been to the same place with my Holga today so see how they turn out, one thing I do know the water will be like cream milk pouring

Following on from your comments about the grey tonality I have re-edited the files using one of Ian's Film Packs presets for Camera Raw, they work very well, not over the top adjustments just right IMHO you can buy then from Ian's website.

I think these look better contrast wise, I have added another with a little artistic blur

second set works much better Very nice
...yes, for me too. And, yes also about how the second one draws you in through the archway.

Thanks for reposting with those adjustments, Martin. They show what you teach so well about contrast grading and the differences between something that is flat and how it can have more dimension, for someone like me.

Thanks!
