My Wife and I drove past this church and just had to turn around to have a closer look. It's impressive, all the more so when you discover that apart from the foundation and fittings, it is entirely made of wood. Apparently, it's the largest wooden church structure in North America. None the less, sadly about two years ago, the Church decided to demolish it because the upkeep was too much of a burden. I discovered last year that there was a group trying to take ownership with a view to raising enough funds to at least preserve it as a national monument but I have just read that there has been an offer of a 10 million Dollar donation aimed at saving it. However, it is conditional upon it remaining an active church. That means the Church fathers can't offload it so not there yet but I hope the place survives because it is so impressive. Anyway the article had me looking for these images and I thought they might be of interest.
