DXO Film Pack UI

I don't use this application simply because I no longer use a digital camera but was curious to see what it was all about.

After installing and installing the application, I was amazed to see how a software company of this size have not taken into account all avenues when designing the user interface.

I am quite badly red/green colour blind and I am not a single case and the colours on these sliders are almost non-existant and the more I try to focus on them the more it just makes it dissapear. The same goes for toggle switch above them, I can see the word Color but I dont know if its disabled or enabled.

The same applies for other dialogs, checkbox states and the text next to 24h is barely readable

Needless to say, the software was removed far quicker than the time it took to install it.

Sowtware UI design to me is just as important as the code that sits beneath it and it frustrates me when things like this are not thought trough properly.

This is one of the reasons why I only use FilmPack integrated in PhotoLab.

Unfortunately, the modern trend for all sorts of photo software seems to be dark and low contrast and, although PhotoLab is a bit easier on the eye, contrast levels could definitely do with a bit of a boost

I agree UI design is often lacking with many programs and the reason i have not persevered with Affinity photo because the UI font I’d too small among other things

The font size in Affinity is awful and doesnt appear to scale properly which put me off using it on the iMac with 25660x14440.
I asked on many occasiaons if they could address this but it just seemed to fall on deaf ears.

I'ts as though these companies have never heard of macular degeneration so one can only assume that the UI designers are all under the age of 45.

Just wait until they reach 50+ and parts of their body start heading South, they may understand what we are trying to tell them.

Absolutely! It was the first thing I complained to them about when I first got Affinity photo as soon as it was released and way back then they said they do something about it

I suspect they’re all kid programmers who just don’t get age at all

Actually more likely to do with the graphic designers' "look and feel" specs who in their turn are probably responding to market trends and poor requirements specs from above. No excuse, but the poor old softies often take the rap for things not their fault.
