On a distant asteroid, a terrifying alien waits for its moment: Vespula germanica.

Canon R6 MK II - 100mm RF macro. Hand held stacking of about8 pictures.20230819-Guêpes02-132.jpg

Good image. I didn't know you could hand hold and stack. I always assumed it had to be done using a good solid tripod.

With most newer hybrids, you can do automatic focus bracketing and burst-shots together. The only real limitation with my Canon camera is that the electronic shutter mode, used for that feature, is not compatible with the flash. Led lighting mandatory in most cases.

Nice work. I used to do a lot of macro work but never thought to use that feature on my cameras. Just goes to show that modern cameras are so capable that the average person never uses all of their capability. I suspect modern smart phone are the same - or is it just me?

I like how that turned out. I have never tried hand held focus stacking but that photo might just inspire me to try.

Actually, I only use some of the advanced features on my camera. Among other things, I don't shoot videos...

Relly tasty image. Well done Hans
Edit, really nice detail on the subject.
