IMG_1004.JPG This was one of those unintentional shots. I was setting up to update the grandkids 'rouges gallery' one Sunday and Anjuli, my stepdaughters best friend and as much a member of our family, was holding my white balance target that I like to use when shooting with flash indoors. I later cropped out the target and was left with a nice unintentional portrait. Well, I like it anyway.
 
If you know this person Graham, all well and good, but for me the facial expression is empty, it looks like she is not ready or caught by surprise, I'm not getting anything back to give me some indication who the person is, if you see what I mean. From a technical point of view there is a halo around the hair line and what looks like some compression banding which would suggest over processing.

Thanks Alan. This is where an impartial view helps. You are right, I know what she was doing and saying at the time. Believe it or not she was telling me the Softbox was pointing to one side instead of straight at her and was asking if it mattered. I hadn't noticed the banding or the halo so again, great to have another pair of eyes looking at it so I can remember what to look for in future edits. Many thanks.
 
It seems to have had some overstrong skin-softening/glamour/glow filter applied, which has had the additional effect of washing out the paler areas and reducing the shadows to a 'smudge', for example where her hair falls in the area of her left eye.
