All About Memory Cards

Read this article about a week ago, very interesting stuff. And to think I've been doing it wrong all these years.

........And to think I've been doing it wrong all these years.

I had been toying with the idea of passing this on to photo soc members and - on balance - decided not to; but now I will:)

Thanks for your post Steven:)

I learned this one VERY early on fortunately.
I had a sandsk card with several images that were half noisy pink lines
Asking around it was eventually considered that I had deleted images in camera then continued shooting or something similar. Yes I used to delete images in camera and didn't format between shoots
Now I do nothing whatsoever to images in camera, I download and backup then format in camera everytime

Yep, me too. Fortunately I read an article year's ago that this was the better procedure so have always done so. I guess one strikes lucky on occasions!

I have a Sandisk 8mb card in my camera, not all large by current standards, and I have always binned unwanted shots in camera at the end of the day in order to make space on the card. The camera and card are about 6 years old, I have never had a problem. Although I do tend to format the card in camera periodically, I still have Adobe Bridge set to delete the card at the end of uploading to my PC. So basically I have been doing it wrong!

However, having read this, I have ordered a couple of new 16mb Sandisk cards (my camera has two slots). I have actually been meaning to do so for a while, but this article has provided 'added incentive'. Thanks for posting it Mike.
