A toy for Christmas

I splurged on a lens that's not very serious. The Canon 16mm f/2.8 STM. At around £250, it wasn't a huge splurge.
A lens like this would have been completely unusable with film. Terrible vignetting, huge distortion. Only computerized correction saves it. That said, with its negligible weight and ridiculous size, I'm really enjoying myself... The depth of field and angle of view are crazy. But I still need to get to grips with it a little.

None the less it looks to be pin sharp Hans. With the appropriate subject it might be quite useful and fun to use.

The lady seems totally unconcerned, how far away from you was she? I'm assuming the table was circular and the short focal length has changed it into an oval shape.

I have a 12 to 24mm Nikon lens which I use on my digital cameras and that does not need any corner correction for fall off ((C size sensor} I can use it on my D800 as well because it recognises the difference between a lens designed for a 'C' sensor and automatically crops the frame size. with film it would be virtually unusable though.

20mm is my limit for 35mm film although I have used a 14mm on my F2a and it was OK but not for everyday use.

I think you will create more nice ones like this with that lens. Good job.

The D800 has a 34mp sensor (Claimed) I wonder what it will be using a 'c' format lens. I would reasonably expect it to be a reciprocal of the full frame but I am sure that would be incorrect.
