fisheye lenses

Hi all, Is there a way, perhaps a formula, that will help me to decide if a lens will produce a full circle fisheye image. I see many lenses for sale, and have no idea whether they would work with any of my cameras. These are usually described as x42 or ?? One article I read states the...
