have I got this development wrong in perceptol?

Hi all. After getting a recommendation for ID11 in another thread I was only able to get perceptol so had a go, having previously used fomadon r09. I developed two films, a Rollei 80s 35mm for 12 minutes and a Fomapan 400, also for 12 minutes, which is what I found recommended on a couple of...

    Economic B and W chemicals?

Hi, I'm just getting back into b and w film developing after a long lay off so was wondering what the cheapest chemicals to give decent results? I got the Ilford starter kit to get my hand back but their simplicity chemicals that came with it are a ridiculous price. I've seen the Atomal 49 dev...

    Hi all

Hi all from not so sunny North-West UK. I'm a long term photographer who rediscovered the hobby in semi-retirement with a gift of an admittedly very nice Fujifilm X100VI but it wasn't long before it became my second camera as I rediscovered the joys and challenges of film. I'm currently...

~ Roll Out The Barrels ~

I took this shot in a laneway at Toronto's historical Distillery District in 2011. The barrels at this location were a great prop.

    Navajo Light

Agathla Peak a.k.a. El Capitan is the core of an ancient volcano, ten miles south of Monument Valley, Arizona. It rises over 1500 feet (457 meters) above the surrounding, barren desert terrain. The peak bears spiritual significance to the Navajo people. I shot this in the late afternoon back in...

    Mortar And Pestle

This old family heirloom must be at least 100 years old if not more. It was my grandparents passed on to my mom and then to me. It's been sitting on a shelf in the living room for a long time so I thought I'd play around with it during these days of isolation. I should also add that I'm very...

    White Rose

Today I bought a cheap potted rose plant and decided to shoot some macros with it. Before anybody asks, I was going for a hi-key look with enough details in the petals to hold it together. I also added some grain. I think it may look good as a small print with a black frame.

    Grape of Wrath

A macro of a bowl of grapes. Why "wrath"? I was angry because that that one grape on the front right was out of focus. I used DXO Film Pack (trial version) for this one. I kind of like the grain.

    The Bridge

Another macro test using window light. This time the subject was my acoustic guitar. Joanna, you'll be happy to know I used PhotoLab Filmpack (trial version). I experimented with various film presets but settled on using the channel mixer sliders instead. I liked the shadows of the strings...

    White Orchid Test

Still testing and experimenting with the extension tubes and my 24-70 lens. This one shot in earlier today in my living room using natural window light. Unfortunately, the orchid is white so doesn't have much tonal range when processed in b&w. I'm finding the key to macro photography is focus...

    Learning Curve

Here is my first foray into macro photography using extension tubes (thanks, Simon). Quite the learning curve, a trial-and-error process. After dozens of attempts shooting a variety of tiny subjects found around the house, here is the fruit of my efforts but nowhere near what I would like it...

    Guardians Of The Corn Field

Another lone tree in a corn field shot yesterday. I was hoping for a snow covered field only to realize the corn stalks were 5-6 ft. high.

Standing Naked In The Corn Field

I'm referring to the tree of course. Taken late afternoon about a week ago somewhere north of Bradford, Ontario, Canada.

    Fisherman's Shanty

A hand held shot taken in Trout River, a quaint fishing village on the west coast of Newfoundland, Canada in September 2016.
