Downloaded. How do I get to tanzaku mode please?
I really like the improvements it is a lot faster and more fluid the format works really well. I left a message on DP as well. Ideally for me it would not have the border but others may differ. Thanks for adding this I know it wasn’t your original intention but it works well.Hey guys, developer of XP4N here. The new version (1.0.9) supports Ko-Tanzaku format. I've "hidden" the feature away in the Settings page, because it will likely confuse the hell out of many mainstream users. But once you enable it, it will give you a Ko-Tanzaku sized viewfinder to help frame your shots.
I realize this is a B&W forum, but this was the test image I shot to try out the format (I've put it side-by-side with traditional classic Japanese Ko-Tanzaku art to explain to people what the concept is and how to use format). I can make it monochrome if you're really offended by color
I hear your other comments about seeing the chosen film style in realtime (WYSIWYG), I'd love that too. Unfortunately it's technically not possible. The app does so many manipulations to the photo that doing that in realtime to the viewfinder video stream is not feasible. It would turn the viewfinder into a slideshow instead. And previewing the image before you shoot is not possible with iOS. It either takes a picture or it doesn't. Perhaps the iPhone 16 with its shutter button will add a method to get a quicker low-res preview when you half-press. I'll check with Apple.

Probably it already uses the highest possible resolution in your case. For iPhone 14 and 15 (and possibly 16?) iOS will not automatically pick the highest (48mp) sensor option but opt for the 12mp resolution instead - probably to protect users from themselves (these files are huge and slow to process). You'll have to instruct iOS to allow access to its highest available resolution if you do want to access it.Thanks for making these extra feature available - definitely getting better to use. Good to know that developers listen.
I have an iPhone 13 Pro and selecting the 48 mo option makes no difference to the mp/kb size of the image. But the 13pro has (I think) only a 25mb option.
It may be that it is too much hassle etc to allow XPAN to access the larger option on older iPhones
Is that actually the case?

So I'm not actually specifically picking the 48mp sensor, I just tell iOS that it's ok to pick the biggest and best it's got. I reckon on iPhone 13 that was already the case.
Yes, that is trivial. Doing all the manipulations that my film sims do goes quite a bit further than just removing color and cropping the imageBranbos said:

Not sure this is correct or we may be at cross purposes.
If I set my iPhone 13 to square format and b&w, that is what I see on my screen before pressing shutter.

Like this very much.
Nice one Glenn, it looks like a perfect place for this format keep them coming and have a great time! The app is a lot nicer to use now so should be a bit of fun - we going on holiday tomorrow so hopefully I will get some photos as well.Cagliari, Sardinia. Just arrived. X4PN app. Homemade Mikael Siirila toning LUT. Straightened and cropped slightly but otherwise out of camera.
