?state Of The Art Panorama Stitching?

This type of panorama head is an expensive luxury for most people but do not despair. If you want to get into pano shooting and if you have a modicum of DIY skills, the internet has plenty of home-made versions that will will do the job just as well with a bit of care and attention and materials are readily available on the 'net.

Thanks Keith - I never even bothered looking at how much they cost as landscapes generally are not my thing.

..................... as landscapes generally are not my thing.

Nor mine normally Chris but about six or seven years ago I made one so that I could photograph a tall wide building under very restrictive 'elbow room' so to speak. I needed to shoot in portrait format to get the height but I lost out on the width and straight camera/tripod mounted pano introduced too much distortion so I built a basic one out of aluminium flat bar and some odds and sods. The biggest niggle was the empirical method of finding the nodal point and it tested my patience to the limit, however, it was worth it because I got an excellent pano, got paid for the shot and I sold the pano head for a very nice profit. :)
