Some more from Salford Quays

Thanks Glenn.

I find Salford Quays to be suited to my (outdoor) photographic interests :)

I like the second, but I've developed a visceral hatred of the black-clad, hooded/umbrella'd figure walking away from the camera in a minimalist contemporary urban setting cliché so favoured of 'fine art' photographers, so the first one maybe not so much

Someone gave me a copy of Metropolis as a gift. I almost scream at it every time I open it.

Both good photos, Chris, ignore me.

Thanks for commenting Toby.

I think I know the kind of image you mean eg ? dark silhouette in bottom left hand corner against a flat, modern architectural background.

I might be tempted see what the first image looks like if it is mirrored (so the figure is walking left to right) .
Can give it a go - I have done that on landscapes before where I thought it gave a better composition (I’m not a purist  )

With and without the pole, I think the one without the pole is more positive atmosphere (depends on whether than was the mood you intended)
Either way the inverted BBC sign gives it away

Thanks for giving the the alternative.

I agree, your version (without the pole) is a stronger image:)

Re the ‘BBC’, I hadn’t noticed that, thanks for pointing it out.

My solution would be simply to make it blank:eek:

I might even enter it in a club competition - but is it ‘all my own work’???

Curious. I think the one with the pole is the stronger and better balanced image. But there again I have always been a bit of a rebel :) .

Never ceases to surprise me how different, competent etc people can have a different view on the same information :) :)

You could even combine the two if you wanted. It's not perfect, the image is a bit mangled from me messing around with it you can tweak the sky better and position the man wherever you want but you get the idea. I have it linked to my private Flickr photos I can delete it if you want otherwise it will just get deleted automatically when I have too many private photos on Flickr.

There is a fair amount of this stuff about at the moment it is fairly easy to shoot as there are so many striking buildings around (depending on where you live) having a person in the photo makes it a lot more interesting to me.

Thanks, never considered doing that (my brain can’t cope with remembering all the options for manipulation etc)

I get the idea and like it :)

Yes, I know what you mean, sometimes when I view a scene or a posted image I can see/visualise several images within it. The options are only limited by what we see (or rather don't see).

That was my thought as well but probably wouldn't have admitted it if I didn't see your comment.
Thinking you might be able to copy/paste the BBC from the original, maybe.
