Hi,

Should we do dodge and burn on color image or black and white image?

In any workflow I presume most of the corrections done on color images before we move on to black and white conversion. its always confusion to keep the dodge and burn work keep it on color or black and white image.

Regards,
Uday

There are no hard and fast rules but usually, dodge and burn is used to lighten and darken certain areas of the image.

As we are looking at luminance rather than colour, my personal suggestion is to always do the dodge and burn after the image has been converted from colour to black and white.

when converting to mono I always do global adjustments only on the colour image and local (and any other global) adjustments on the mono. I find it too hard (and unreliable) to previsualise the effects In mono of local colour adjustments
