Keeping a tight grip on the cash

Still using photos I like for inspiration.

In this case from: ‘Still life and special effects photography ‘ - a 2007 book by Roger Hicks and FrancesSchultz.

This book includes detailed info on setting up the shot.

Original and suggested set up:

I had several attempts and ended up with a totally different approach that didn’t require a sheet of glass (v difficult to remove all dust) or 5 lights.

I just held the wrench in a clamp and used light painting to (try and just) light the edges.

Don’t like it as much as the original but good fun trying to work out how to do it :)

And coming up with the title :)IMG_1531.jpeg

That looks interesting and is something I could set up easily with my four-lamp Soviet-era copy stand. Have ordered myself a copy - £6.50 on eBay seems reasonable.

I like your version very much. I wouldn't have thought of using a ten bob bit but just the right choice.

Nice, looks good:) I bumped into Roger Hicks a long time ago at a photo show in NEC. At the time I enjoyed a number of his books/articles.
