Any advise regarding Rolleicord cameras ?

I am feeling like trying a different camera type and shooting technique and having sold some gear on eBay am considering a Rolleicord as a cost effective alternative to a Rolleiflex. The general opinion seems to be the later the better (Va or Vb variety) and the obvious condition checks.

Any body got further advice or opinions or whether I should sell some more stuff and save up for a Rolleiflex ?

Thanks

I have a Rolleiflex 3.5f , it’s a beautiful camera to use, my advice is which ever model you buy ask if it’s been serviced, a lot will not have been and could be troublesome without a CLA, also check out the Yashica Matt and Mamiya TLR also excellent. I used a Mamiya for many weddings and social events years ago
, the standard 80mm lens is so good, also you can change lens with it , something you can’t do with a rollie,

The big issue with my Rolleiflex T is that the previous owner was overenthusiastic cleaning the lens. Not sure how you can check this without running film through the camera. If I were to try for another I might consider a vendor who offers a replacement guarantee. More money unfortunately but better peace of mind.

I always enjoy using my Roleiflex. My only problem is that the viewfinder isn't the most clear so usually end up zone focusing.
(Anothe problem is that you can become "shutter happy" - an expensive condition!)

Thanks, the prices I can see for the Rolleicord suggest buying used off eBay isnt worth the risk, they seem to be available from a couple of retailers with 6 month warranties. The Mamiya's do look bigger and heavier for a walk around camera. I now need to look more closely at the Yashica. Nice Rolleiflex's are up at around £900 to £1K which is a bit rich for me at the moment.

Well in the end I did get one from eBay in an auction for £150 but in the end sent it back because its condition didn't meet the description. I then found a similar Vb at Ffordes that has just arrived, costs more but has a guarantee and is from a trusted source. Lets see how that goes.
